About the desk

Why OD&D Crate exists

A quiet informational site for original D&D, maintained so players and referees can orient quickly.

OD&D Crate is a quiet desk for original-edition and proto-OSR exploration: underworld, wilderness, and the thin procedures that make sandboxes tense without a novel of backstory.

Chainmail lineage and referee judgment are the point. We write that plainly. History checks via Original D&D (1974) and Old School Revival keep our summaries honest.

Edition fights are boring. Shared stocking habits are useful. We aim at the latter.

Editorial boundaries

No invented stock or prices. Links to shops are navigational. Prefer primary designer blogs and public histories for news.

Player ingenuity is the point. Empty rooms and reaction rolls exist so the table can surprise you.

Operators

WOGD and Pop Culture USA keep the lights on. See Guides, FAQ, and Updates.
